Impact Teen Drivers

Umlaut is excited to announce that we have teamed up with Impact Teen Drivers, a nonprofit that provides cost-free evidence-based webinars on the dangers of reckless and distracted driving. Impact Teen Drivers is offering all teen foster youth and volunteers access to their virtual teaching module. Car crashes are the number one killer of teens. Education, awareness, and preparation is the best way to prevent these deaths. We encourage anyone to take it; you don't have to have your license yet. The module is linked at the bottom of this newsletter.

In addition to the module, Impact Teen Drivers is hosting a creative competition to deliver ideas about creating change in driving culture. Utilize creative writing, video, graphic design, music, or other media to help end reckless and distracted driving. We've attached a flyer below, but more information can be found at (Winners receive a cash prize!)

See our September 8th newsletter to get a link to the module and competition flyer.

Monthly Updates

Monthly Quota

Starting September, Umlaut Foundaiton has decided to implement a new policy to encourage tutoring requests. Every month, each volunteer must request to tutor at least once for every five foster youth requests. For example, if there are thirteen topic requests this month, everyone should have submitted a tutor request at least twice.

Senior Service Hours

if you are a senior attending Amador Valley High School, we have been placed on the pre-approved list of nonprofits for senior service hours. We will be able to track and record your hours, and once you have made the request, we can sign the certification form. If you are not attending Amador Valley High School and would like this benefit extended to your district, please let us know, and we will contact your school board.
